Laurel and I were walking around the Village on one of those mild nights last week, looking for a place to get dessert, when we stumbled upon Victory Garden. We were lured into this little shop by their bright design and frozen yogurt machines.
When we got inside, the machines were being shut down for the night, but we were able to snag a small taste of the last of the yogurt. That's when we confirmed, this wasn't some kind of mystery product "frozen dessert," it was goat milk frozen yogurt. Organic, natural and local. It was delicious and I was disappointed there wasn't more.
Had there been yogurt left, we may not have discovered the true gem in the shop - the Chia Parfait. The parfait starts off with a base of homemade cashew milk mixed with chia seeds and sweetened with agave. Then, it gets topped with any two of the many frozen yogurt toppings - from fresh fruit to honeycomb candy to goat milk caramel. My favorite combinations so far are cocao nibs + walnuts for dessert and pomegranate seeds + dried mulberries for breakfast.
It's most likely a caloric indulgence, but after crushing a hard swim set or having a breakthrough run workout, isn't it worth it?? Plus, Laurel claimed to not be hungry all day after having the chia treat for breakfast.
