The Shape I'm In

Heading out with SJ.I only allowed myself to be in a few pictures the whole time I was pregnant. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't be the girl that rocks her bump in a tight outfit. I felt like an uncoordinated, non-athletic, Thanksgiving Day parade balloon and I didn't enjoy it.

Everyone kept telling me, don't worry, you'll be fine, it's temporary. But I had a hard time buying into that and instead spent a few months convinced my Nike Legend running tights would never fit again.

Then I had the baby.

Between almost seven pounds of baby and not being about to eat for four days, by the time I got home from the hospital I was under ten pounds away from my normal weight. And now six weeks later that's down to five--without having to do any crazy Hollywood juice diet. I even managed to fit into a dress and heels for a black tie wedding when Amy was 5 weeks. So for all the pregnant athletes out there, you can stop freaking out about being huge!

Now on to the next concern: getting fit.

Cheering Squad.

Since I've had a very, very long break, I've taken the last few weeks to prepare for working out again. First I had to find and sort through all of the gear I hadn't touched in months. I found my swim bag stuffed into the back of my closet. I moved my bike from a dusty corner to it's place on the trainer in my bedroom. I cut the tags off of a new pair of running shoes. As for workouts, I'm continuing to go on daily walks and gradually mixing in each of the three sports. This week the plan is to do three 30 minute spins and three 45 minute easy spins. By next week I hope to report back on my first run!
