Athlete Food in Runner's World and a Road Trip

Last week I drove from NYC to Clermont, Florida (outside of Orlando) to escape the latest round of winter storms and get in another round of warm weather training. When I was packing snacks for the trip, it dawned on me that we haven't mentioned Athlete Food's latest appearance in Runner's World magazine.

Melissa wrote this article on mini-meals for the November 2013 issue. The story mentions my favorite road trip snack (bagel with cheese and fig jam) and a bunch of other examples of small meals to eat between workouts. We're talking real food, not just a handful of nuts or a half a energy bar. Melissa also provides some great tips for how to time these meals around workouts.

And for more on the road trip: 16+ hours with a baby and a dog and 2 bikes. We stopped in Maryland for a ladies lunch (3 sisters, 1 mom, and 4 baby girl grandchildren) and then pressed on to Florence, SC for the night. The next morning we got up and made it to Clermont by 3 pm, in time for a much needed massage. Here are a few highlights from the trip:
