Snow, March 31, Mohonk Mountain HouseSeems like just about every pro triathlete is racing this weekend and I'm not. Here's why:

I have a broken toe! Well, it is actually an almost healed broken toe at this point. Remember the ITU race in Barbados that I didn't finish? Turns out, I actually fractured my big toe while running into the water during warm-up. This wasn't exactly the start to the tri season that I had planned. I was in my best running shape ever when it happened and was hoping for some early season podiums. 

The good thing is that I've been able to focus on swimming and biking over the last several weeks. This has turned out to be a much needed opportunity to improve my cycling times. Instead of the double runs I was doing earlier this year, now I'm doing double bikes--keeping it interesting by rotating between my road bike, TT bike & mountain bike. 

You won't see me in an xterra race anytime soon (unless the bike course is straight up a mountain), but I will be at the starting line at St. Anthony's.
