Now that the Olympics are in full swing, it seems like everyone is paying attention to sports (other than baseball, basketball, etc).  I have been asked many times this week, at the gym, on the street, at the deli,  "Are you in the Olympics?".  It's kind of hard to explain the complicated qualification process and that I didn't even get a chance to try out.  Instead, I simply say, "No, not this time - the New York City Ironman is my Olympics".
Bec and I made the last minute decision to drive up to Canada so I could race the Muskoka 5150.  After the prior weekend's races, I was out of the top 25 in the rankings for the Hy-Vee Championships and needed some points in order to qualify for the race.  I really want to at least give myself the chance to race against the best and being relatively "close" to Muskoka, Bec said, "Well, we'll just drive to Muskoka".

For those who have been following us, you know that I had a fractured toe that set back the first half of the year. This was a great disappointment, but is part of being a professional athlete and pushing your body for performance.

Now the second half of the season is over too, but for much better news...I'm is expecting a baby in January 2013!
