Training in the City: Red Hook Pool

Back to our Brooklyn roots.

The pool at Chelsea Piers is closed this week, so Laurel and I have been swimming at the Red Hook pool in Brooklyn. We can't believe we waited until the last week of summer to swim in this outdoor 40m x 140m pool. The pool is huge and has 6 very wide lanes (without lane ropes) set up in the 40m direction for lap swimming ALL DAY LONG. Even though this is a free city pool, the water was clear and clean and crowds were not a problem. The pool deck even has lounge chairs for after swim relaxing and all of the pool attendants are nice...as long as you remember to bring a lock.

I took this retro-looking photo of Laurel as we were leaving the pool.
