In some parts of the world, spring is here! As Bec keeps reminding me it's still wintery in the Northeast and other parts of the US. But with April around the corner, I thouht I'd share some spring style ideas to get you ready for when the warm weather arrives.

It's hard to believe it's already been two months since Amy was born! She's doing great, just hit the 10 pound mark and is a happy little baby.

As for me, I'm finally feeling like this whole getting back into shape thing is actually going to happen. After some pretty uninspiring attempts at swimming, biking, running last week, I'm now back on track with a new routine.

The stiff wind that's chilled even the sunniest San Francisco days this winter is fading, making winter's bitter greens--broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale--seem dark and heavy. But the contents of my produce drawer is still decidedly March: radishes, carrots, and lots of celery.

How do professional athletes celebrate St. Patrick's Day? With kale, of course. Laurel spent the day watching the LA Marathon and riding her bike along PCH. I watched the NYC half marathon on TV and hiked to the Mohonk Mountain House in a March snow shower.

The only twin-like thing about our days is that we both ate kale.

Dear Editors: The baby ate my homework.Holy Moly. How is it Thursday already? Time is flying by. Nell is already 7 weeks old and spring break is just around the corner. In a way, I'm super-excited for warmer weather, but for the most part, I just wish time would slow down just a bit so I'm not in this constant frazzled state of anxiety, always worrying about what's next--and what I'm not getting done.

When you have a baby, the UPS truck comes every day, sometimes twice a day. Amy has received the most generous and adorable gifts from all over the world. But today, I actually got a package! The girls over at the shopping website Sweet Relish sent me a care package full of products for a new athlete mom.

Are sodas over 16 ounces banned in New York City or not? Large sugary drinks' days were numbered until yesterday when a state supreme court judge overturned the ban that was supposed to go into effect today. I've been known to guzzle large amounts of Coke during long, hot bike rides, so I can't say I was totally against the ban.

Heading out with SJ.I only allowed myself to be in a few pictures the whole time I was pregnant. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't be the girl that rocks her bump in a tight outfit. I felt like an uncoordinated, non-athletic, Thanksgiving Day parade balloon and I didn't enjoy it.

Whelp, my first post-baby “race” is in the books. I use that term lightly since I definitely did not compete, but it was an organized event with timing chips, a registration fee, an awards ceremony, etc. So yeah, it was a race, but I did not race. Nor was I planning to. I realize now more than ever that getting back comes in quite a few stages.
